[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> national weather service officials spent the day on site in hartford county. we begin our team coverage of the aftermath of last night's fast-moving storms. in jarrettsville, there is 100- foot wide path of destruction. >> it did not take us that much time to get the video of the damage. the short path of destruction went right through someone's backyard. how can you describe this? >> how can i describe it? it is a mess. and i am hoping someone will

help me clean it up. >> don can chuckle now, but friday night at 7:00 p.m., this monster of a storm was barreling down on their back yard full of huge trees and chickens. >> i said, chennel 11 says there is a tornado right over our head. five minutes later it had. >> it was 15 seconds of that freight train sound. >> 15 seconds a did a lot. it come real quick and swirled like a windmill going around. i ran downstairs. the next thing i heard was a big boom. >> sound of two of those two trees crashing to the ground. one of them has two adjoining trunks. >i would assume you consider yourself lucky to be alive? >> yes. if that other half would have went, it when it went right through the house.

6:00 25:30, here is what the radar look dead at 5:00 -- at looked at at 5:30. it was moving to the northeast. it had not gotten into baltimore county, except the southwest corner. by 6:00, a storm cell was on the howard county-baltimore county line, west of security mall. the purple area goes up into central howard county. that is when all of the action started. between 6:30 and 7:30 that cell moved up into hartford county. it was that critical hour. there was a pretty strong cell that had definite circulation showing. whether that translated to the ground, we will find out. a quiet day today. what about tomorrow? we bring you details coming up in just a minute.

>> stay informed anytime severe weather strikes. you can download are free smart phone apps for insta-weather updates. all free. a police pursuits to the streets of baltimore and ends in a deadly crash. detectives are piecing together how it all happened. it started just before midnight last night when drug investigators tried to stop and as you eat that had an armed person inside. once police were on this trial, the vehicle in question collided with another vehicle, then struck a tree near the intersection of broadway and biddle. the person behind the wheel of the suv was killed. police have been interviewing eyewitnesses. they confirm recovering and handgun from the suv. identities of the suspects are being withheld until criminal charges are filed. baltimore county police have tried to figure out what brought this car crashing through a child-care center in woodlawn.

it happened just before 1:00 at the joy of learning center. investigators believe the woman behind the wheel of the mercury had swerved to avoid another vehicle when she drove into a parking lot and slammed into the building. no one was inside at the time, but the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. officials at the learning center say they will be closed on monday. for four hours today emergency crews from all of the region were responded to a terrorist attack. this one was a drill. the urban areas security initiative have an exercise based on how quickly local emergency jurisdictions can respond to terrorism incident. the scenario was designed to be as real as possible. you can see the victims were played by real actors combined with training manikins. each first responder is given a specific role. >> when i arrive, i met with the

police incident commander. and what happens is the police had a bomb they had several bombs, device and one of them exploded. at that point, it becomes a fire department operation, because now we have wounded civilians, structural stability and possibly a fire. >> we were trying to figure out where the patients were, who needed to be transported first. getting everybody to an area where they could be treated and figuring out which hospitals have room. >> again, this was just a drill. crews were able to pinpoint what they needed to work on in order to be more efficient in the event of an act of terrorism. one of the area that needs the most improvement -- patient accountability. overall, it was effective way to make sure local jurisdictions are prepared to make critical decisions necessary to protect the public during a real mass attack. homicide detectives are searching for a robber shot and killed and 910 man this

afternoon in east baltimore. within the last hour, the victim died from his injuries at an area hospital. authorities were called to the 2500 block of halstron street where they found a man suffering from one gunshot wound. the victims identity has not been released. detectives are scouring the city and their search for a missing 12-year-old girl. she never made it home from school on thursday. was last seen around 1500 block of woodland heights avenue. and she4'9" inche stall, was wearing a yellow, hooded sweatshirt, a navy blue shirt and khaki pants. we will continue to monitor the search. in the fight to end homelessness, baltimore is pulling out all the stops. in this year's journey home g

but the rain makers have been up towards the great lakes. elements of that storm that went through friday are spinning around up there right now. you see a couple of green flashes on the radar. they are putting a few artifacts in there, but this is the real reign. it is lake effect rain. that chilly air is crossing the lakes and generating rain shower activity. it only made it to 66 degrees today. yesterday it was 76. but 66 is the normal for this time of year. the low -- 48 this morning. i do not think we will get colder than that by midnight tonight. and no rain today. although we had .001 inch, around midnight. temperatures -- annapolis, 58. on the boardwalk, 53 degrees. in the 40's in parkton.

48 in frederick. oakland was down to 39 this morning for their low. in the blue shades, slightly cooler temperatures. here is the satellite temperature. you see this world and the clouds. that is the upper air storm that was the root of the cold front that went through here yesterday. the front is out over the ocean. it is pinwheeling around. there are these impulses still involved in this storm. they are going through. this one that is out over the ocean generated a few clouds today. others are up in the great lakes. so what we are getting is high pressure here. a little on the chilly side. the upper atmosphere where the jet stream is gone, is taking a nosedive. over the next couple of days, the jet stream will move to the northeast and this warmer air to our southwest will come back for next week.

terrell suggs activated saturday, meaning he could play sunday against the texans. it came at the expense of sergio kindell. possibly ending his career of unfulfilled promise. the 2012 defensive player of the year has followed his own timeline in regards to recovery from achilles surgery. experts had him returning in november. because he is activated, it does not mean he will play. considering he has only practice three times since a general, it is a lot to ask of a guy that is not in a game shape. >> it will always be out there in your mind, you want to be out there with your brothers, especially when you lose your big brother. he's always going to be there. at the end of the day, we have to do what is best, not only for myself but for the team.
